THE £13.7 million Bromsgrove Sports and Leisure Centre - which has been billed as the "new jewel in Bromsgrove's crown" - will finally open its doors next week.

Opening on Monday, November 27, the site features a Clip ‘n’ Climb climbing centre, 25-metre six lane swimming pool, three group exercise studios and an impressive 100-station fitness suite.

The centre also boasts a spa that will feature a sauna, steam room, aroma room, relaxation area and Jacuzzi, while there will also be a range of beauty treatments on offer in the specially designed treatment rooms.

Neil Cowdrey, Everyone Active’s contract manager, who will operate the facility, said: “We are really excited to officially unveil this fantastic facility.

"This is a centre that we and Bromsgrove District Council are extremely proud of."

The opening will be marked with two open days on Saturday December 2 and Sunday December 3, giving the public the chance to try out the centre’s wide-range of facilities.

A range of activities will be available from 10am until 4pm.

Family wet and wild swim sessions provide families the chance to try out the new swimming pools, but places are limited and must be booked on 0152 791 6434.

Adventurous members of the family will be given the chance to scale one of the fifteen routes on the eagerly-awaited Clip ‘n’ Climb climbing wall with family taster sessions on both days.

Cllr Peter Whittaker, whose portfolio covers leisure, said: “I am delighted this project has come to fruition and the centre is opening its doors.

"The council had a vision for this Sports and Leisure Centre four years ago when we had to replace the Dolphin Centre which had reached its life span.

“And thanks to extra funding from Sports England, we were able to enhance the facilities at the venue for our residents, including the exciting new climbing wall.

"I hope everyone takes a look for themselves next weekend and enjoys this new jewel in Bromsgrove’s crown.”
