FINISHING touches are being put in place for next month's Bewdley Carnival.

The event, which returns to the town on Saturday, June 10, will feature a float parade, stunt show, animals, martial arts displays and live music and dance.

The carnival parade will leave Hales Park at around 1pm and will be led by this year's carnival princesses Elsie Claydon, seven, and Dallas Loveridge, seven, from Bewdley Primary School, and Mya Smith, six, and Xjaela Mai Braithwaite, six, from St Anne's Primary School.

The parade will continue to Bewdley town centre, to Bewdley Leisure Centre where the afternoon's entertainment will commence at around 2pm.

Crowds will be entertained by Dangerous Steve - with his fire and chain saw juggling, ladder balancing and blindfold motorcycle riding.

Sue Matthews, of the Bewdley Carnival committee, said: "Also on the parade field will be Bliss Gate dog training team, HCW Wrestling, Glamba Samba percussion group, Severnside School of Dance, Simon Airey the animal man, a wood carver, West Midlands Tae Kwon Do, a fun fair, bouncy castle, stalls, a bucking bronco and many refreshment stalls.

"The firework display, that is very kindly arranged by Bewdley Town Council, will be held on the Saturday night (June 10) after the carnival. The fireworks will be lit at around 10pm."

Entrance to the field is £2 for adults, £1 for OAPs and children over 10. Under 10's get in for free.

Anyone who still wishes to enter a float or walking group in the parade, or hold a stall on the parade field, call Sue on 01299 401841.
