MORE than 40 people took part in the first Walking for Health event at Croome Park, near Malvern.

The free health walk was on Monday morning, taking walkers around the beautiful grounds designed by Capability Brown.

The Walking for Health group was set up by Malvern Hills District Council, and is supported by the National Trust, as part of the National Walking for Health scheme.

Rachel Vann, the walk leader, said: “We had an amazing response to our first health walk, and we ended up walking for just over an hour clocking up 2.75 miles.

“The group offers low-impact exercise, which is ideal if you have problems with your health, or have had problems in the past. Even if you're not feeling your best, walking could help you feel great again. It’s also a good opportunity to make new friends.

“If you would like to attend our next one we would be delighted to hear from you, the more the merrier.”

The next walk will take place on Monday March 27, at 10.15am and will have three different ability groups, with walks ranging from 30 to 90 minutes.
