A DUDLEY based social enterprise that helps people with mental health issues has become a registered charity.

Woodside Crafts grew from a small group of people making wooden products at a workshop at Woodside Day Centre in Holly Hall as a therapeutic way to support those living with mental ill-health.

The group has managed a shop on King Street, Dudley, since 2014, selling its hand-crafted products while continuing to run workshops for people with mental health issues.

After it had raised enough income to become a registered charity, Woodside Crafts approached Dudley CVS for support and together they developed an application for charity status, which was quickly granted by the Charity Commission.

Christine George, trustee of Woodside Crafts, said: β€œIt has been such an amazing journey, especially seeing members develop their skills, grow in confidence and feel part of society again.

"We hope to continue promoting mental health, raise more awareness and of course welcome more members.”
