YOUNGSTERS from a Kidderminster primary school were given valuable tips on how to stay safe online.
A new Google eSafety initiative, ‘The Legends Tour’, rolled into Franche Primary School to teach children four practical tips on having fun while avoiding the dangers of being online.
Pupils took part in an interactive 30 minute assembly while Google staff taught the children about The Legends’ Code which follows four key areas: thinking before we share anything online, protecting our stuff, checking information and websites are for real and, finally, respecting each other online.
The day was also attended by Wyre Forest MP Mark Garnier.
Emma Taylorson, from the Computer Curriculum Team, said: “With different technologies becoming so easily accessible to children, it is of vital importance that they know how to keep themselves safe online.
“The assembly, presented by Google, was not only interactive, engaging and fun but also educated the children in the important areas of e-safety.
“At Franche, we teach children the importance of staying safe on the internet, as well as knowing who to talk to if something isn’t right. The Legends Tour has helped to reinforce our e-safety values.”
Head teacher Mrs Val Weddell-Hall added: “It was an absolutely fantastic presentation from the Google team. Thanks too, to our MP Mark Garnier, for putting us in touch with Google.”
A spokesman for Google Legends Tour Assembly said: “The children were very engaged and are very switched on when it comes to e-safety.”
