STUDENTS held an exhibition of their work in a shopping centre in a bid to boost the city's art scene.

The University of Worcester students displayed the art in CrownGate Shopping Centre, in Worcester, between Wednesday, January 11 and Wednesday, January 18.

Nine art students took part in the exhibition, which was called TIDE, and revolved around the theme of movement.

Organisers said the event was a success with around 20 members of the public visiting each day.

Esme Bamber, a third year student and the exhibition's curator, said: "[It] has been a great experience for all involved.

"We have enjoyed connecting with the local community over the contemporary art that we have made and displayed.

"The idea was to curate a show in order to build a better connection with the public but also to help the art scene in Worcester grow a little.

"Peoples reactions were great. Really supportive and connecting with the art and us.

"In the future we plan to exhibit more work in public spaces and build the art movement in Worcester."

Ms Bamber said a private viewing of the exhibition drew in almost 60 people, giving students the opportunity to sell their work.

The event involved Danielle Flavell, Stephaney Manning, Kizan Ayton-Green, Robin Woodward, Pete Richard, Hollie Murray, Amy Crouch, and Nicola Arnold, who curated the exhibition alongside Ms Bamber.
