TIME is running out for parents in Worcestershire to apply for secondary school places.

Applications close on Monday, 31 October, and parents are encouraged to apply before the deadline or risk pupils not getting in to their preferred choice of school.

Cllr Marc Bayliss, cabinet member with responsibility for children and families at Worcestershire County Council, said: "Secondary school is a hugely formative time in a young person's life, and it is important that pupils are given the opportunity to study in their favoured environment.

"Late applications will have an impact on an applicant's chances, and so I would encourage parents to apply for secondary school places before the deadline."

Applications can be made online at worcestershire.gov.uk/schooladmissions and the council says parents with no access to a computer can use their local library or contact the Worcestershire Hub who will be able to assist them with the process.

Cllr Bayliss added: "Our new admissions system will make this process easier than ever, and there are still plenty of options in place for those without access to a computer."

The council warns that parents and carers who apply after the closing date have a significantly reduced chance of getting their preferred place.

Late applicants will be considered after all other applicants are given a place. They will also have to apply via the post and will get their offer posted out to them rather than emailed on the national offer day.
