AFTER flash floods in June forced organisers to cancel Kinver Country Fayre, the traditional village fun day is finally set to go ahead this weekend.

The event will take place in Kinver on Sunday September 4 and is set to be the biggest and most action-packed to date, according to the organising committee who have managed to rebook their headline act – the famous Royal Signals White Helmets motorcycle display team.

Considered the UK’s most spectacular daredevil motorcycle display team – the White Helmets will be wowing the crowds with their amazing acrobatics and death defying stunts in two shows starting at 1.30pm and 3.45pm in the main arena in Stag Meadow.

Jane Sadler, of the Kinver Country Fayre organising committee, said: "We are thrilled the famous White Helmets are still performing at the fayre, following the June postponement.

"We actually have more entertainment this time round, with a dressage arena display and parade of heavy horses just added to the bill.

"We’ve also had a tremendous response from traders, with over 90 per cent of stalls re-booking plus some great new ones coming in."

Other entertainment at the event will include a fun dog show, children’s fancy dress, falconry displays, craft demonstrations, vintage vehicles and children’s fun activities including a bouncy castle, traditional fairground, pony rides, live music, real ale, refreshments - and a traditional parade through the village, starting at 11am.

The fayre had been due to take place in mid June as usual but heavy downpours left Stag Meadow under water and forced organisers to postpone the event at the 11th hour.

Villagers, however, are hoping the sun will shine on the rescheduled event and bring in thousands of visitors.

Mrs Sadler said: "We’re all set for Sunday and are looking forward to welcoming the usual crowds of up to 10,000 - but we would ask that people check the new September programme, as times have changed slightly from June."

Entry to attractions in the High Street is free.

Tickets are, however, required for the action-packed displays in Stag Meadow and cost £5 for adults, £3 for teenagers – but free for children.

Visitors can pay at the gate on the day or buy discounted advance tickets (which offer express entry) online at www.kinvercountryfayre.com.

Tickets bought for the June event are still valid.
