A SEVEN-year-old boy whose battle against leukaemia touched the hearts of people throughout the region has died.

Jack Edwards, of Cleobury Mortimer, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 24, four years after being diagnosed with the disease.

A statement through Cleobury Mortimer Funeral Directors said: "It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we place this very sad announcement regarding such a brave boy.

"After a long battle that he fought with great dignity and courage, Jack passed peacefully away at home on August 24, aged just seven years.

"Jack was an inspiration to all who knew him and he will be sadly missed by all his family, friends and the whole community.

"A service of thanksgiving to celebrate Jack's short life will take place at The Parish Church of St Mary, Cleobury Mortimer on Wednesday, August 31 at 11.30am, following which he will be laid to rest in Cleobury Cemetery."

Anyone is welcome to attend the service.

No formal dress is required with his family instead asking people to wear either Aston Villa tops or something bright.
