A MAN has been arrested for dangerous driving after a motorcyclist died after crashing with a barrier between Lydiate Ash and Rubery yesterday afternoon.

Emergency services were alerted to the crash at 2.25pm on August 29, and two ambulances and a paramedic area support officer rushed to the scene on Redhill Lane.

Bystanders were already attempting CPR on the man, along with one of the Trust's patient transport vehicles, which had pulled over to help.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "On arrival at the scene, crews were told that the man, who had come to rest on the central reservation, had initially collided with a barrier."

Ambulance staff took over attempting to resuscitate the man, but it quickly became clear that nothing could be done to save him, and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

The next of kin is yet to be informed.

West Mercia Police was also called to the scene of the crash, which had involved a Honda Fireblade motorcycle and a grey Honda Civic.

A 48-year-old man from Birmingham has since been arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving. He has been released on police bail until October 8.

Police are now asking witnesses to come forward to help establish the events leading up to the fatal crash.

Anyone with information is urged to contact West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 436s.
