A BREAKFAST event aimed at small and medium-sized businesses in Herefordshire will be held next month.

The joint-working event between the Jobcentre Plus Recruitment Team, Herefordshire Council and Herefordshire Training Providers Association is aimed at small and medium-sized employers, offering them the opportunity to find out about free recruitment support, business support including an update on grants available, and information on apprenticeships and how they can enhance and support a business.

It takes place in the Hereford Business Solutions Centre at Skylon Court in Rotherwas between 8am-11.30am on Tuesday, June 14.

Meanwhile, Jobcentre Plus has reported "pretty buoyant" job figures.

According to the Office for National Statistics, Herefordshire had 1,050 residents claiming Jobseekers' Allowance in April, down five on the previous month's figures.

"The figures are about the same as last month which means that things are still pretty buoyant," said Mike Dzioba, Jobcentre leader for Herefordshire & Worcestershire, and Coventry & Warwickshire.

"But that number is 63 per cent down on the figure in 2010."

The figures mean 0.9 per cent of Herefordshire's working age population are currently claiming Jobseeker's Allowance, lower than the national average of 1.8 per cent and the West Midlands average of 2.3 per cent.
