A MAN has been rushed to hospital after a car crashed into a bus stop near Shrub Hill Railway Station, Worcester.

The emergency services are at the scene and one person, the car's passenger, has been taken to hospital by ambulance.

The incident took place at around 10.15am and involved a silver Daihatsu Sirion.

No one was waiting at the bus stop when the car crashed into it, and the woman driver was uninjured.

Paul Hudspith, lead sales at Home Bargains in the Shrub Hill Retail Park, said: "We heard a car alarm going off. We had a member of the public come in asking if we could call an ambulance.

"It could have been a lot worse. If someone was walking past - it could have gone into them. It is pretty bad."

Two crews from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service were at the scene, working to make the car safe.

Police and the ambulance service were also in attendance.

A police spokesman said: "Police were called shortly before 10.15am to a report of a car in collision with a bus stop on Shrub Hill.

"Fire an ambulance also attended and one occupant of the vehicle, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital with a head injury."
