THERE was lots of fun at the farm, as a care farm near Pershore through open its doors for a very special event.

Visitors flocked to Wick Care Farm, in Wick, on Saturday, April 23, to enjoy a pop-up market and café.

The event was a huge success, raising £1,300, and organisers want to say a big thank you to everyone who supported it, both in the run-up and on the day itself.

Wick Care Farm offers both adults and children support to carry out a wide variety of farm-based activities, including horticulture, conservation, cooking and caring for animals.

The event featured was a range of stalls offering plants and produce, crafts and curios.

Marianne Fisher said: "Some of the wares were made ‘at home’ on the farm, while others were brought to us by friends.

"Everything looked wonderful, and special thanks must go to our visiting stall-holders – the market just wouldn’t have been the same without them."

Along with live music, the farm's very own animals proved a very popular attraction.

"Our lambs, piglets, chicks, sheep, geese, hens and ducks were all ready to be admired, and it was lovely to see lots of people enjoying meeting them," said Dr Fisher. "Many visitors also went on a tour of the care farm, to discover what’s going on in the polytunnel, what’s growing in the vegetable patch, and who’s living out in the fields."

The day ended with a raffle and prize draw. First prize in the draw was a hand-made quilt, made and donated by Bobbie Turley.

Other prizes on offer included a basket of fruit, donated by K&J Mason of Pershore Market.
