A PUPIL from Bromsgrove has hit all the right notes at a national singer songwriter competition, having already made it through the first two rounds.

Head Girl at Waseley Hills High School, 18-year-old Lucy Shaw has just made it to the third round of contest Stripped Back, after judges voted her through to the final 15.

Radio 1 DJ Huw Stevens rated Lucy's entry 'Fall in Love with the World' nine out of 10 and said it sounded "effortless and really charming."

Her final song 'Gunshots' is about Lucy's longing for a peaceful society - regardless of gender, age, race and ethnicity.

Lucy said: "I was inspired to write it because of current issues such as the existence of extremist groups and gang violence. I am so lucky to have got this far but now I really need people to support me."

To vote for Lucy, log in to the Stripped Back site through their Facebook page, or visit famemusic.com/home.
