THE driver of a 55-tonne mobile crane was injured last night after the vehicle toppled over on its journey in Hereford.
It happened on the A417, between the A49 and Bodenham, at around 10.10pm.
A rapid response paramedic, an ambulance, a paramedic officer and a BASICS Doctor attended the scene as well as fire crews.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “It is believed the crane was travelling down a narrow section of the road and whilst passing a large vehicle that was travelling in the opposite direction, the crane toppled over down a small embankment onto its side."
The driver of the 55-tonne crane, a man in his 30s, was out of the vehicle when crews arrived and had suffered a serious injury to one of his ears.
He received emergency treatment from paramedics and the trauma doctor and was then transferred by ambulance to Hereford County Hospital for further treatment.
