A CASTLE adventure playground has been created at a popular country park to commemorate the 750th anniversary of the Battle of Evesham.

The playground, which features turrets joined by bridges and climbing panels as well as a slide and a fireman’s pole, is the latest addition to The Valley – which describes itself as a “growing shopping, leisure and adventure destination” in the Heart of England.

To reach the playground visitors will take a ride on the Evesham Vale Light Railway steam train, recently named Monty after Simon De Montfort of the Battle of Evesham.

Spencer Gower, retail asset manager of Eagle One, the firm behind The Valley, said: “We are really pleased to be part of the celebrations.

“The Valley castle adventure playground not only adds another element to The Valley but also commemorates the 750th anniversary of the Battle of Evesham, keeping the history alive for the children.”

Antonia Coles, Battle of Evesham Festival organiser, added: "I am delighted The Valley is playing it’s part in the 750th anniversary of The Battle of Evesham celebrations.

“It is exciting to think of the many local children that will benefit from keeping the history alive through imaginative play and in such a great outdoor setting.”

The Valley is also running themed craft activities for children every Monday, Wednesday and Friday throughout August from 11am to 4pm. For £3.95 participants can design and decorate their very own medieval banner, sword, shield or crown.
