TWO big names in the music world will be swinging by Upton-upon-Severn this summer.

Stars of reggae UB40 will headline Sunshine Festival alongside BRIT award-winner Gabrielle.

The festival, which is in its sixth year, will also feature Suzi Quatro, who is celebrating 50 years in rock and roll, as well as ska band Bad Manners and English new wave group ABC.

A spokesman for the festival said that this year should be bigger and better than ever.

“We are looking forward to Sunshine Festival’s sixth year and we have put together our best ever line up of acts for this year. We have added a fourth stage to be able to extend the range of music and entertainment that we have on offer to make it a fantastic family festival and currently, prices are the same as last year.”

Other acts confirmed for the festival, which takes place from Friday, August 28 to Sunday, August 30, include pop rock duo Chas n Dave, Showaddywaddy, the Wurzels, the Real Thing, the Bohemians and more.

A new fourth stage will promote up and coming original talent, and magician Paul Daniels, and Catchphrase’s Roy Walker will provide non-musical entertainment alongside comedian Stan Boardman and ventriloquist Lochlan Werner.

The festival will also feature T.Rex: The Music of Marc and Mickey and a trading village, a children’s entertainment area and the new food zone with a variety of dishes from around the world.

Children can be kept occupied in FunLand, an inflatable village containing activities from bungee runs and Go Karts to land zorbs and gladiator duelling.

Last year’s festival saw around 5,000 people gather to enjoy the event.

Early bird tickets are now on sale, with an adult full weekend with camping ticket costing £75 for a limited time.
