POLICE in Evesham and Pershore offered advice and information to people in the two towns today (Thursday) as they took part in Operation Protect.

The force wide operation began at the crack of dawn with drugs raids on homes and continued throughout the day with officers out and about showing their commitment to protecting the public.

In Evesham and Pershore high visibility patrols took place in the town and at schools, as well as held Love Your Home events in busy spots in each town, arterial route checks and licensing checks.

Tesco in Worcester Road, Evesham, hosted one of the Love Your Home events and Police Community Support Officers spent the morning alongside police staff offering advice to residents.

Marcia Lloyd and Sally Harvey work at the Evesham police station.

They said: "A lot of people have been talking about their experiences. We had one lady who had been burgled and the officer is going to take a kit to her house to help her and her family feel safer again."

PCSO Simon Hall said: "We have just been talking to the public about all sorts of different things. I like to think we are doing the community part of policing. People want to be able to have a chat to us about anything that's happening in their area and put a face to it."

Over in Pershore the officers also gathered at Asda to share some hints and tips about how to stay safe.

Sergeant Sarah Kent said: "We have spoke to lots of people and given lots of advice, especially about online safety. People have also raised issues with us so it's very localised."

Overall the operation saw a total of 38 warrants executed and 46 arrests, at least, made across the communities served by Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police.
