THERE was pride all round at St Barnabas CE First and Middle School when they were named as the regional champion school by the e-Learning Foundation.

The school in Drakes Broughton was given the award in recognition of its use and application of mobile digital technology to enhance learning and teaching.

Valerie Thompson, chief executive of the e-Leaning Foundation, visited the school to present the award.

She said: "The e-Learning Foundation wishes to commend the way that the 1:1 iPad scheme is inclusive to all pupils at St Barnabas.

"I would like to welcome St Barnabas into the e-Learning Foundation as one of our seven Regional Champion Schools. Each Regional Champion School is a beacon of good practice and we look forward to helping St Barnabas First and Middle helping other schools along their digital technology pathway."

Paul Kilgallon, headteacher at St Barnabas, said: "The award is more important to us as it’s not one we specifically set out to get.

"We were chosen based on the quality of our work on a day to day basis and it’s great that this has been recognised by the e-Learning Foundation.

"Being a Champion school endorses the work we are doing and we hope to be supporting other schools across the region."
