NICK and Alison Cooke know their eggs and bacon when it comes to making a good breakfast but their knowledge of antiques and collectables has been put to the test.

The couple from Angel Bank on Clee Hill are set to appear in the BBC programme ‘Bargain Hunt’ next Thursday.

They spent a day in Leominster last October with expert Charlie Hanson buying items that were then auctioned against collectables purchased by another couple.

Each team was given just £300 and the winner is the one that made most at auction in Shrewsbury.

“We were first auditioned for the programme at Ludlow Assembly Rooms last summer and told that we had not made it but would be kept on the list,” said Nick.

“Naturally, we expected to hear nothing more but then got a call and were put on the show.

“We are not great collectors but like to dabble and are fond of good pottery.”

They are not saying how they got on but do say that giving up the ‘day job’ running the Bed and Breakfast on Angel Bank is not on the agenda.

The programme featuring Nick and Alison will be broadcast on Thursday February 5 on BBC One at 12.15pm.
