AN appeal for volunteers to help transport people in the north of the Cotswolds who struggle to get out has found some Good Samaritans.
In November the Journal asked if anyone with a car could spare some time to help transport people to and from appointments or shopping trips where public transport is not an option.
The service run by Cotswold Volunteer North Community Transport has been going for more than 30 years although most of the volunteers lived south of the district. They still picked people up from the north but the miles in between were classed as "dead miles" and the customer had to pay for them.
The areas around where drivers were most needed were Chipping Campden, Broad Campden, Charingworth, Ebrington, the Hidcotes, Mickleton, Paxford, Weston, Aston-sub-Edge or Willersey and nearby.
Since the appeal the charity has been able to recruit eight more drivers to its books.
