LOCAL employers will be appearing at a Bromsgrove jobs fair that has been organised by the town's MP.

Sajid Javid will be hosting the jobs fair on Friday, February 13, at the Council House, in Burcot Lane.

The MP recently welcomed recent unemployment figures that showed a fall of 57 per cent since 2010, from 1,424 to 605 local jobseekers.

The MP decided to organise the fair to support those still looking for work and invited more than 30 employers to meet the workforce.

Among the employers represented on the day will be Harris Brushes, Jaguar Land Rover, Severn Trent Water, Aldi, Tesco, National Grid, RAF, Bromsgrove School and Thomas Horton LLP Solicitors.

It is being held at the Spadesbourne Suite of the Council House, in Burcot Lane, from 10am until 3pm.

The MP said: "With unemployment falling by over half to one per cent in Bromsgrove we have made significant progress in helping 819 people to find work.

"However, I am determined to help those 605 people who remain unemployed to get back on their feet.

"The fair is open to everyone, and I hope as many people as possible will attend.

"With over 1,500 jobs and apprenticeships available, in all sorts of sectors, we have an opportunity here to help numerous people back into work and supporting their families.

"My aim is simple - to bring together local employers searching for employees, with Bromsgrove residents looking for new work opportunities. If this is you, I hope to meet you on the day and to hear your good news at the end of it."
