FOODY festival goers will be flocking to the centre of Evesham on Saturday, September 13, to sample some fantastic pies and ales.

Mayor Charlie Homer will officially open the fourth annual Pie and Ale Festival at 11am in Market Square.

And Evesham Hotel head chef, Paul Napper will be judging the winners in a wide range of pie-making competitions.

Throughout the day, visitors will be able to sample and buy a range of tasty regional food and ales and enjoy some family-friendly entertainment including a bouncy castle, skating demonstrations, a gaming competition and face-painting.

Anyone wishing to enter their food or ale can do so up until the day and the entry form can be downloaded from the event listing on the Best of Evesham website or the link can be found on the Best of Evesham Facebook group.

Competition prizes will be handed out to the winning pie-makers, both amateurs and professionals alike, between 2pm and 4pm on the day.

Mr Napper said: “I’m passionate about fine local produce, so I can’t wait to see what Evesham has to offer. The competition is a great way for people to really get the best out of quality ingredients so I’m excited to judge it.”

There will be live music from local bands, along with sumptuous food and plenty of beer for the adults to enjoy.

Festival organiser, and Vale of Evesham Commerce and Tourism Association (VECTA) member Debi Rolls added: “It’s shaping up to be a really exciting day and because the Pie and Ale Festival is being held in Market Square, it will bring visitors right into the heart of the town.

“Now we just hope the sun will shine offering people an enjoyable day out, and a taste for all the fantastic produce Evesham has to offer.”

During the day you can Tweet your photos and comments with the hashtag #pieandale.
