THE man whose body was found in the River Avon in Evesham in February has been named as Grahame Oswald.

The 63-year-old, who was from Cheltenham, was found in the river at the Weir Meadow Caravan Park in Castle Street, Evesham, on Wednesday, February 19, after a member of the public spotted his body, which had been caught up on a boat mooring.

His date of death is unknown.

Detectives were not initially able to identity him as he had no ID or wallet on him and he did not fit any local outstanding missing persons reports and carried out a nationwide appeal for the public's help.

But during a police search of the river bank looking for further clues, a rucksack was found that belonged to the man.

The inquest will take place at the Worcester Coroners Court on June 2.
