A NEW chairman has been elected to Alcester and Stratford District Round Table.
Richard Handy took over the role from David Plumb at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting held at the Holly Bush pub in Alcester.
Richard, 33, has lived in Alcester since 2006. A test engineer, he is married with two children and has been a Round Table member since 2009.
Paul Jackson is vice chairman for the year, with Mike Lowe assuming the role of president.
Mr Handy said: “2013-14 was a great year for Alcester and Stratford District Round Table with membership numbers on the rise and some great activities including archery, gin and whisky tasting and trips to England Rugby Union internationals at Twickenham.
“More importantly, we played a real part in the local community, raising more than £3,000 through our Santa runs, as well as holding pig roasts at the Summer Street Market and St Nick’s Night to generate more funds.
“2014-15 promises to be equally exciting with a varied programme planned.”
Alcester Round Table is part of the international Round Table organisation which offers young men aged from 18 to 45 the chance to make new friends, try new experiences and give something back to their local communities.
