Stratford District Council cabinet members are discussing whether or not to charge for the green bin collection at their meeting next Monday. Currently the council only charges those households with more than two green bins, with fewer than 20 households in the whole district paying for the service. The cabinet is now to consider providing one green bin free and charging for a second green bin or making a charge for a maximum of two green bins. The charges being proposed are £40 a year for a second 240-litre bin and £30 for a second 140-litre bin. The charge for the option of a maximum of two bins to be collected would be £40 a year. If approved, changes to the fortnightly collection service would be introduced on December 1.
