THE village school in Longborough, near Moreton, has been awarded an Arts Council England Silver Artsmark for excellence in its arts education.
To receive an Artsmark, a school must dedicate a minimum of 10 per cent of its teaching time to the arts; 12 per cent wins a Silver Artsmark and 15 per cent a Gold Artsmark. Successful schools also encourage teachers’ professional development and are involved with local artists and arts groups.
Headteacher Karen Lewis said: “I’m delighted that the Arts Council has recognised Longborough Primary’s dynamic arts education programme.”
