The Fleece Bretforton Apple and Ale Festival

THE Fleece Inn will be holding its annual Apple and Ale Festival tomorrow.

The National Trust owned pub in Bretforton will be open for visitors from 11.30am - 11pm on Saturday and from 12noon - 4pm on Sunday.

Despite the wet summer meaning a shortage of apples, the festival will be full of fun with real ales, scrumpy ciders and apple pressing on offer.

Apple pressing demonstrations using the Fleece's 1850s apple scratter and staff hope to press enough of the autumnal fruit for next year's Fleece homemade cider - The Ark.

More than 40 real ales and ciders from across Gloucestershire along with local artisan cheeses, pies ad pasties.

On Saturday evening the blue grass band Slippery Hill Boys will be performing from 7.30pm in the pub's medieval thatched barn. During Saturday afternoon and early evening morris men will be dancing in the courtyard and Shakespeare Mummers will be performing on Sunday afternoon from 2pm.
