Rev’s final service
9:00am Saturday 29th September 2012 in News
REVEREND Grahame Humphries will pay a fond farewell to Blockley on Sunday when he leads his final service at the village church.
He will be conducting the harvest festival service with Bishop John of Tewkesbury at 9.30am followed by coffee and refreshments.
Blockley residents will then have the chance to say their goodbyes in St George’s Hall from noon.
The 67-year-old is retiring to Charlbury with his wife Mary after serving in the ministry for 40 years. He said he was looking forward to the harvest festival.
Meanwhile, a BBC crew has now left the Cotswolds after spending 10 weeks in and around Blockley filming scenes for the forthcoming television show Father Brown. It stars former Fast Show and Harry Potter actor Mark Williams.
The Rev Humphries enjoyed a fun final few weeks in the role as his Blockley vicarage was transformed into a 1950s presbytery, which will feature in the new show along with the church.
The series is due to be shown on BBC1 early next year.
