Mel Nicholls paralympics Winchcombe Abbey School

WINCHCOMBE Abbey School teaching assistant Mel Nicholls said she felt 'on top of the world' despite missing out on a Paralympic medal.

Mel finished seventh in the final of the T34 200m race last night having qualified successfully from her heat earlier in the day.

She said: "I feel on top of the world after that race. It was so amazing just to be in that final."

The teaching assistant to Winchcombe Abbey's year four class, also paid tribute to race winner and fellow Team GB member Hannah Cockroft.

"To be able to share it with Hannah is the most amazing feeling of my life."
