High praise for school
12:00pm Saturday 4th August 2012 in News
THERE were celebrations at a village school after it received a good report from Ofsted inspectors.
Honeybourne First School was described as a good school where pupils were supported well and enabled to make good progress.
The inspection was carried out by lead inspector Ken Buxton, who praised school’s good leadership and teaching.
The report said pupils achieved well and that children in reception settled in quickly. It also said children enjoyed learning because teachers made lessons fun.
Children’s behaviour was also praised, but the report said the school could not yet be described as ‘outstanding’ because pupils’ attainment had not been consistently higher than average.
Headteacher Elaine Huntington was delighted with the report. She said: “It recognises all the hard work everybody does. It noted how everyone’s work keeps the children at the centre and how hard staff work at giving the children feedback.
“They were very pleased to see the progress the children were making here and much of the teaching was rated as outstanding. We know this is a good school. I am so pleased the inspection report reflects the hard work and commitment by all of the staff.”
