A BOY had a lucky escape when he was hit by a car and carried along on its bonnet in the village of Badsey last night (Wednesday).

The incident happened at about 7.15pm on Bretforton Road , leaving the boy with minor injuries.

A rapid response vehicle and an ambulance were sent to the scene, and a West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The 12-year-old ended up on the bonnet which caused considerable damage. The crews on scene were told that he was carried over 20 yards from the point of impact.

“Although there was a suggestion that he had been knocked out briefly, he was fully conscious when the crews arrived.

“He had a laceration to his chin and has lost a number of teeth, but otherwise only had superficial abrasions and bruising.

“He was immobilised as a precaution using a neck collar and spinal board before being take to the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch for further assessment and treatment.

“Ambulance staff at the scene said were astonished he had not suffered far more serious injuries given the level of damage to the car.”
