New hospital wins secure design award

THE new North Cotswold Hospital in Moreton is the first hospital in Gloucestershire to receive a prestigious Secured by Design Award.
Chief Superintendent Nigel Avron, of Gloucestershire Police, presented the award at the hospital’s official opening by Prince Michael of Kent earlier this month.
The gong is awarded by the Association of Chief Police Officers for public buildings that have been designed and constructed to reduce the opportunities for crime and anti-social behaviour.
Paul Francis, crime prevention officer for the county, said: “We are pleased that the design of the hospital incorporated the principles of ‘designing out crime’ which can make a significant difference in preventing the opportunity for crime.
“The award has certainly gone to a worthy winner.
The building, layout and car parking have all been built with security in mind. This will help to ensure that the hospital is a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and staff.”
