Walk into the pages of history this spring and visit a historic garden,

Kiftsgate Court in Mickleton was created just under a century ago and it has been tended by three generations of gardeners. It is now in the capable hands of Anne Chambers, who, together with her husband, Johnny is building on the work of both her mother and grandmother.

She is refining and developing the planting, as well as extending the garden.

Over the last two decades, the garden has been enriched by a water garden on the site of a tennis court, and a tulip tree-lined avenue leading to a mound at the top of the garden.

2018 is an anniversary year for Kiftsgate – the Chambers are celebrating 80 unbroken years of opening the garden for the National Garden Scheme. Rather than the more usual sundial, the Chambers have chosen to accept a plant, a Magnolia wilsonii, from the NGS to mark their record achievement.

A selection of plants propagated at Kiftsgate will be on sale.

The garden is open Monday April 9 from 2pm until 6pm.
