YEAR two children at St Peter's Catholic First School have been learning about the importance of staying safe when walking near and across roads.

Pupils performed a class assembly for the rest of the school and their parents to hammer the message home to 'be safe and be seen'.

The assembly focused on the importance of wearing bright, reflective clothing, and taught students a song about stopping, looking, listening and thinking before crossing the road.

Class teacher, Adrian Pinnock, said: "The children really enjoyed sharing the information and could explain the reasons for having both zebra and pedestrian crossings.

"We have a pedestrian crossing outside of our school and the children now realise how lucky we are and that we should use it at all times to keep ourselves and others safe."
