AROUND 400 visitors enjoyed the good weather, pork baps and local beer and cider at a farm open Sunday event.

At Old Farm in Dorn near Moreton, about 100 passengers took a tractor tour around the farm and shearing demonstrations were popular as ever.

Visitors of all ages jumped at the chance to get up into the combine and the lambs, calves and piglets were intrigued by all the attention.

Sarah Righton, owner of the farm said: "With a new survey published last week showing that one third of 5-8 year olds think that cheese comes from plants and that pasta is made from meat it is more important than ever to get kids out onto farms so they can see for themselves how their food is produced.

"We are happy to host school visits at Old Farm."
