PEOPLE are being challenged to take on a 10km cross-country run or walk.

North Cotswold Rotary Club and Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust are organising a work around the surroundings of Greystones Farm in Bourton-on-the-Water for charity.

The farm managed by the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, boasts a wealth of wildlife and archaeological history and a 6000-year heritage of farming with nature in mind.

Will Masefield, community action team leader at the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, said: "We’re so excited to be hosting this fun event and we’re hugely grateful to North Cotswold Rotary Club for making it happen.

"The proceeds will go towards the exciting new facilities at Greystones Farm, showcasing the wildlife, farming heritage and archaeological importance of the site, making it accessible and engaging for all.

"And what better way to spend a summer’s day than taking in the beautiful sights of Greystones Farm and the local area.”

Money raised from entry fees will go towards the conservation work, educational facilities and visitor experience developments at Greystones Farm, with the option of raising money for a charity of choice via sponsorship.

On Sunday July 9 the venue will host the first-ever Greystones Walk or Run - a 10km cross-country run and a 5km or 10km walk.

Details of how to register can be found at www.NorthCotswoldsRotary.org.uk where a sponsorship form can be downladed to raise money for a chosen charity.

The cost of entry is £7.50 for adults, with children aged 16 and under going free.

The 10k run will start promptly at 10am at Greystones Farm, and the 5k walk will commence at 11am.

Registration will open at 9am.

There is no parking at Greystones Farm, but public parking is available in nearby Station Road.

Early arrival is advised to secure a parking space and marshals will be on-hand to direct participants.

Registration should be done in advance if possible, but on the day registration is allowed.

Dogs are welcome on the walk, but they must be on a lead.
