A BUSINESS leader has praised a High Street for bucking the trend.

Chipping Campden has seen a number of new additions to its High Street in the last year, which the chairman of Campden Business Forum, Nick West, claims is in sharp contrast to many places in the country.

He said: "Wherever you turn there are reports about the demise of the British high street, but Chipping Campden in Gloucestershire is showing this doesn’t need to be the case.

"Perhaps Chipping Campden can be inspiration for other High Streets, whose obituary has been prematurely written.

Independent jewellers, milliners, wine merchants and Robert Welch’s shop and studio have been joined in the last twelve months by Sam Wilson, the home and accessory designer.

Fillet and Bone, which sells meats, fish, vegetables and other types of local produce opened in March whilst Covent Garden Academy of Flowers also recently opened.

Peridot Digital Computer Sales and Servicing has opened its doors whilst Country Hound Dog Boutique will open in the next few months.

Sarah’s Deli has recently become available to residents and there have been multi-million pound refurbishments of

the Cotswold House Hotel and the Kings Hotel as well as the redevelopment of Huxley’s café and bar.
