A NEW Cotswold supermarket has been opened by a local scout group.

The Midcounties Co-operative Food in Upper Rissington opened its doors to a brand new eco-friendly store, creating seven new jobs, on Wednesday, (April 12).

The 1st Upper Rissington Scout Group unveiled the impressive new store joining three others and a gym on Parade Square, after relocating from Sopwith Road.

The 3,000 square foot store features a modern new look with eco friendly features including LED lighting and energy efficient refrigerators to reduce emissions.

A hot food counter offers customers more food-to-go options, and the store also supports local suppliers with a best of our counties range, which showcases 120 food and drink products from 12 Gloucestershire producers.

David Zasada, store manager, said: “It was great to have the scout group officially unveil our brand new store on Parade Square and welcome our customers through the doors.

“We’re pleased to be working with local suppliers with the new best of our counties range and reducing our carbon footprint with the store’s new eco-friendly features.”
