FOUR fruit trees were donated by a parish council to Cotswold Tree Wardens.

As part of an effort to encourage nature conservation, Willersey Parish Councillor Nigel Foxall met with Mike Hartnell from the Cotswold Tree Wardens to deliver the trees.

The scheme, organised by the tree warden group, is called 'I Dig Trees 2016: Free Trees for Community Groups' and is enabled by OVO Energy and TCV, to educate people about the benefits of planting trees

The trees are Morello cherry, James Grieve apple, Conference pear and a Bramley apple.

Willersey Parish Council also thanked Henry Jabelman for his contribution of planting trees and working in the orchard.

The trees will be planted in the Orchard owned by the Parish Council that is kept as a nature reserve and used by St Peters School for their Forest School projects and also by a local bee keeper.

Chris Gooding, Willersey’s new tree warden will oversee the planting of the trees and monitor their progress.
