THE last-ever Cornbury Music Festival this summer promises to go out with a bang amid an all-star line-up of top artists.

Joining Canadian superstar Bryan Adams at Great Tew Park, near Chipping Norton, will be Jools Holland, the Pretenders, and a host of Cornbury favourites including Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Jack Savoretti and Scouting For Girls.

Recent number-one country sisters Ward Thomas also make a welcome return for the festival’s farewell weekend on July 7-9, along with Keane frontman Tom Chaplin, festival darling Imelda May, and last year’s crowd pleasers, Australian troubadours The Pierce Brothers.

Among the acts making their debut this year are Kaiser Chiefs, US soulsters St Paul and the Broken Bones, Paul Weller protégés Stone Foundation, Mark Ronson collaborator and indie darling Rose Elinor Dougall, and Danish new-disco superstars Black Dylan.

Also joining the bill are Festival promoter Hugh Phillimore’s favourite 90’s popstars Right Said Fred and the man who created Band Aid, Midge Ure.

Mr Phillimore said: ‘When you’re having a farewell party you want to be surrounded by people you really love, so we’ve invited artists we’ve known and enjoyed watching over the years and luckily they’ve all been keen to join us for our fabulous finale’.

Cornbury has featured many brilliant performers over the years, among them Joe Cocker, Amy Winehouse, Robert Plant, Paul Simon, Van Morrison, Blondie, Bryan Ferry and Georgie Fame.

The festival has gained a reputation for its unique and friendly atmosphere, beautiful Cotswold location and its loyal audience of multi-generational families, aristocracy, prime ministers, film stars, farmers, rockers, Jeremy Clarkson and even the odd royal.

"We've had a fantastic run over the last 14 years and are very proud of the lovely event we've created," said Mr Phillimore: "This year we will end on a high. I know that every artist on the line-up will deliver an exceptional live show. Live performance is my great love and for me its the essence of Cornbury."
