A CHIPPING Campden air force branch has won an award for the fifth year in succession.
The Royal Air Forces Association North Cotswold, Chipping Campden branch won the Wings Week Trophy.
The award is given for raising the most money per member.
John Sermon, branch chairman said: "This was achieved by a stupendous effort by the branch members, under the direction of Keith Moule the branch Wings Week organiser, who ably assisted by the Local Air Training Corp Squadron, braved all weather collecting at various venues from Stratford on Avon in the north, to Bourton on the Water in the south."
"The main event being the Battle of Britain Week when we remember the sacrifice of the ‘Few’ at a time when Britain stood alone in the Second World War.
The money goes to the RAF Benevolent Fund who assist RAF & ex-RAF personnel as well as their families when necessary.
Next year the branch will also commemorate the centenary of the RAF forming and they have started preparing events for people of all ages.
The branch meets on Wednesdays at the Lygon Arms in Chipping Campden and all ex-RAF; relatives and those with RAF connections are invited.
