A COMMEMORATION is taking place to mark the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme.
The centenary commemoration will take place at Chipping Norton School in Burford Road, Chipping Norton, on Tuesday, July 5 at 7pm.
The evening will include accounts and poems read by the students in front of the First World War commemorative stained glass window which was installed in 2015.
The Chipping Norton Royal British Legion we will be laying a cross for every man in the school's catchment area who died at the Somme.
Steve Kingsford who helped organise the commemoration said: "We have also been given a gold soldier carrying a poppy, one of only 141 made by artist Nic Joly, which will be presented to the school."
