AS England footballers prepare for their latest bid for international success, a Cotswold museum is celebrating the last time the country's team lifted a major trophy.

A 50 year flashback football exhibition is being held at the Cotswold Motoring Museum, giving visitors the chance to step back in time to 1966 - the year England famously won the World Cup.

The exhibition, which is being described as the perfect Father's Day treat, features a selection of original 1966 World Cup memorabilia, the opportunity to see a full size replica of the Jules Rimet trophy, and a section devoted to Pickles the dog, who famously discovered the trophy after it had been stolen from an exhibition display.

Extracts from the iconic pirate station Radio Caroline, which launched in the 1960s, will be played to accompany moments of the nail-biting final against Germany including the controversial extra time goal, and Geoff Hurst’s hat-trick.

As well as the football exhibition, the museum also offers the fascinating journey through 20th century motoring, and is home to the popular television car Brum.

The museum is open from 10am to 6pm, seven days a week.

Admission costs £5.50 for adults, £3.95 for children, while a family ticket costs the discounted rate of £17.35.
