ROYALTY will be gracing the lawns of Sudeley Castle and gardens with a glimpse of Queen Victoria for eagle-eyed visitors.

The popular attraction, near Winchcombe, is holding a Victorian May Day event on Monday May 2 when the castle will be alive with colour and festivities.

Highlights include Morris and maypole dancing, interactive characters, games food and music.

Additionally, there will be Punch and Judy shows, a chimney sweep act, and the weird and wonderful 'Palace of Curiosities' to keep the children entertained all day long.

Sian Jocelyn, visitor services manager, said: “Our annual Victorian May Day event is fast becoming famous. It has been a roaring success over the past two years, and this year looks set to be extra special. We look forward to seeing lots of happy faces."

The events are being held from 10am to 4pm and tickets can be booked online at www.sudeleycastle.co.uk

Sudeley Castle & Gardens is the only private castle in England to have a queen buried within the grounds. The last of Henry VIII’s six wives, Katherine Parr lived and died in the castle, where she still remains today entombed in a 15th century church found within the award-winning gardens.
