POLICE are appealing for a boy who interrupted a serious sexual assault in Bishop's Cleeve to come forward.

The incident happened between The Withers and Stoke Park Close between 8.30pm and 9pm on Saturday January 23 and involved a teenage boy and a teenage girl victim who knew each other.

Officers are anxious to trace a a young male witness - possibly aged between 12 and 15 - who disturbed the suspect.

It is alleged the suspect spoke with the witness before the witness walked off.

The witness is described as wearing dark trousers and a light coloured hooded top.

A 16-year-old Cheltenham boy was arrested on suspicion of rape in connection with the incident and has been bailed to attend Compass House custody suite on March 14, pending further inquiries.
