A RARE opportunity to enjoy work by Cheltenham artist Martin Hughes who died last year, will go on exhibition at Winds of Change Gallery, in Winchcombe.

The exhibition runs from February 13 to 20. and proceeds from sales will be donated to Sue Ryder, Leckhampton Court.

As well as producing a series of murals for churches throughout England, Hughes created the album cover for Traffic's 'When the Eagle Flies'.

Commissions in recent years varied from shops and restaurants to hair salons and night clubs, as well as fresco and paint effects in people's homes.

Many characters in his work are fictional fantasy figures, mystic and ethereal. These influences are captured in some of the images in the exhibition together with his riotous use of colour in a variety of media.

He was diagnosed with lymphoma in March last year and died at the end of June. Proceeds from sales during the exhibition will be donated to Sue Ryder, Leckhampton Court.
