A WOMAN who was asleep in a chair at her home in Broadway was awoken by a stranger who had broken into her house.

The unknown man, who smelt strongly of alcohol, told the woman he “had been away on a course for 15 weeks” before leaving the property in Kennel Lane, taking her handbag with him.

The bag was later found on the doorstep with cash missing, although bank cards had been left.

The incident occurred between 5pm and 6pm on Tuesday, July 28.

The man was described as white with tanned skin, about 5ft 10ins tall of chunky build with short brown hair. He was in his late 40s with a foreign accent and was wearing a black shirt with stripes and dark trousers.
