A-LEVEL achievements of the 2014 students have ranked Chipping Norton School 18th out of more than 2,100 schools and placing it in the top one per cent.
The school is a member of ‘Leading Edge’ a national network for high-performing schools which are committed to working in partnership to raise achievement. This shows the value added from GCSE to A-level and how strong A level achievement is from each student’s starting point.
Headteacher Simon Duffy said: "The value added scores show how strongly our students performed. A score of zero would mean performance as expected. Our score was 0.36, roughly a third of a grade better per student on average, and a figure much higher than any other Oxfordshire or Gloucestershire school. I am delighted that the exceptional performance of our A-level students has been recognised in this way. It is testament to the hard work of students and the high quality of teaching at Chipping Norton School. To be in the top one per cent of schools nationally is a wonderful achievement."
Head of Sixth form, Alan Trainer, was quick to praise the work ethic of students as well as that of teachers. "This accolade is richly deserved. Our students recognise the link between hard work and exam success. Teachers have worked closely with students to provide the best teaching and the best support."
