AN internationally acclaimed restorer and teacher in bookbinding is giving two talks at Court Barn, Chipping Campden.

Dominic Riley, bookbinder, artist, teacher, writer and lecturer, specialises in the restoration of antiquarian books and the creation of contemporary fine bindings.

He teaches bookbinding in both the UK and the USA and his prize-winning bindings are in collections world-wide, including the British Library, the Rylands Library in Manchester, the National Library of Wales, the Grolier Club in New York and the Bodleian Library in Oxford.

In 2013 he was awarded first prize in the international bookbinding competition, the Sir Paul Getty Award.

He is a Fellow of Designer Bookbinders and Vice President of the Society of Bookbinders.

On show will be a completed piece of work by Mr Riley which had been commissioned by the Robert Dover's Games Society, founder of the "Cotswolds Olimpicks".

The Society acquired a first edition "Annalia Dubrensia" a collection of poems praising Dover and his achievements in promoting and managing the Games, which was published in 1636. Mr Riley has restored it and it will be on display at Court Barn from May 24 to June 21.

The first of Mr Riley's talks is on Friday April 24 at 6pm and will be detailing the work associated with the restoration of the book.

Tickets for the talk are £7.

The second talk is on Saturday April 25 at 11.30am. Titled One-on-One, the talk will be about his work.

Admission is free with museum admission.
